Junior League of Berkshire County Receives Grant for Discovery Mentoring Program
February 13, 2007 - Pittsfield, Mass. – The Junior League of Berkshire County (JLBC) has been awarded a grant of $2,196.00 from the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation. The funds will be used for “The Discovery Program,” a mentoring program for teenage girls at Girls Incorporated of the Berkshires, a program of the Gladys Allen Brigham Community Center.
“The Junior League of Berkshire County is excited about bringing strong women mentors to teenage girls in our community for the third year in a row,” says Courtney Meisberger, President of the Junior League of Berkshire County. “We are delighted that The Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation realizes the potential of this program and is helping us to make it even stronger.”
The program supports girls in developing leadership skills, connecting with the community and providing a sense of empowerment and furthers the mission of the Junior League to develop the potential of women and to improve the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
The JLBC is an organization of women committed to building a better community through the effective action of trained volunteers. Through initiatives benefiting those in need they train their members to become civic leaders. The Berkshire County League is a member of the Association of Junior Leagues International, which is made up of 296 Junior Leagues in four countries across the world.
