Junior League of Berkshire County Scholarship Awarded to Senior at Miss Hall’s School

May 15, 2007 -
The Junior League of Berkshire County (JLBC) has awarded the Nicole Wilson Beebe Memorial Scholarship for $1,500 to Masha Jones, a 2007 graduate of Miss Hall’s School. Masha will attend the University of Pennsylvania in the fall.

The award honors the memory of Nicole Wilson Beebe, a dedicated volunteer with the JLBC, who died shortly after childbirth. It is given annually to recognize a female college bound high school student who has shown a commitment to the spirit of volunteerism.

Masha has demonstrated a commitment to her community through a broad assortment of projects. She has held leadership roles in service organizations, volunteers at a doctor’s office, an art museums, schools, city hall and the newspaper.

“I have a responsibility to my community and have learned that I would like to devote my future to enabling others to lead healthier, more productive and fulfilling lives,” Masha says. She hopes to pursue a career that combines medicine and public service.

Masha represents the true spirit for which the Nicole Wilson Beebe Scholarship was created. Nicole was the embodiment of what the Junior League stands for, which is women committed to improving the quality of life in the community through initiatives benefiting the health and well being of women and children.

The Junior League has a long history of service in Berkshire County. Next year will mark their 75th year of working to build a better community.

The JLBC year-end annual dinner meeting will be held at the Pittsfield Country Club on June 12th. New officers will be installed and Masha and her family will be presented with her award.
